After the war, the authority and people of Dien Ban district immediately implemented the restoration in the fields of economy, culture and society with many difficulties and obstacles. But the authority of Dien Ban district has always paid much attention to the task of “Pay thanks to somebody for their service” “When drinking water, remember its source” to educate the next young generation on the patriotic tradition. In 1978,  Dien Ban Museum was built at the same time of building the Martyrs Cemetery of Dien Ban district. With the efforts of the government and people of Dien Ban district, the Museum was completed and opened in 1982. Thus, many revolutionary historical artifacts related to the two wars were early collected and preserved timely.

         Staffs of Dien Ban Museum have collected artifacts with various topics such as “War”, “Folklore culture”, “Immaterial culture”, and they coordinated with archaeological institutes, famous universities to excavate objects of Sa Huynh Culture, Champa Culture, Dinh Tran Thanh Chiem (Thanh Chiem Town Hall). Especially, in 2011, the antique lamps collection of Mr. Le Cong Anh Duc, which is considered as the largest collection in Vietnam, was bought to display in this museum. There are more than 15,000 valuable artifacts, photographs and maps about the history and culture of Dien Ban district in this museum. Most of the artifacts are original artifacts. Each artifact has subtitles to introduce its content and origin.

      After 30 years from building, Dien Ban museum was downgraded due to serious effects of time and natural disaters. Therefore, the Party Committee and People's Committee of Dien Ban district put the restoration and upgrading of the Museum on their priority to make a new breakthrough in the construction and development of culture in the district in the new period when Dien Ban district has many efforts to become a city of the province in 2015. With the motto of jointly working by both the State and people, after three years, the restoration was completed and the Dien Ban Museum was inaugurated in June 2013, contributing to create a new appearance of  Dien Ban district where has a deep historical and culture background.

Dien Ban museum has six display rooms where visitors can learn about the nation’s glorious history with the unique culture through historical events and impressive collections. Entering the lobby of the museum, visitors can see the overview of Dien Ban district - a “sacred land with extraordinary heroes” where have a lot of talented people for our country. In addition, there are the statue of “the Vietnamese heroic mother Nguyen Thi Thu”, “The symbol of the returning home to pay thanks to ancestors after achieving academic honours”, “Doctorate Table” and the cabinet displaying many honors and awards from the the State and Party. 

After visiting the lobby, visitors can come to visit the Thematic room of Sa Huynh Culture where displayed burial jars, grave artifacts. They were conducted the first excavations at the house of Mrs. Nuoi at Dien Nam Dong Commune with the age of about 2080 years ago, including 14,551 units of artifacts, in which 33 burial jars and the vestiges of four land tombs of old Sa Huynh people, 193 pottery artifacts, 3.929 units of jewelry, 25 bronze artifacts… Next is the Champa culture room. It displays Champa exhibits such as Ganessa, Linga – Yoni, Nandin bull that found by local people. Each of them has significant meaning and characteristics of the Cham culture and it related in exciting attractive legend stories. Especially, there is the ceramic embossment simulating Bang An Tower - the Champa tower with octagonal shape still exists today in this room.

The gallery of history and revolutionary process of Dien Ban district is displayed basing on each stage:

The first is the phase of Dien Ban district before 1930, when the King Nguyen Hoang established the Thanh Chiem Town Hall (Dien Phương commune) to the time before establishing the Communist Party of Vietnam. In this phase, visitors can imagine Dien Ban district with Thanh Chiem Town Hall, which played an important role in contributing to the enlargement of the country territory and national defense during two centuries (17th century- 18th century). Dien Ban district was the important strategic location which bore the historical mission of the development of Quang Nam province, and bore the traces of the glorious time in respects of economy, culture, society, military and foreign affairs of the Dang Trong region. Especially, it contributed the most important labors to build up the characteristics of Hoi An trade port. This can be visible by the drawing of Thanh Chiem Town Hall preserved in Jyomoji pagoda, Nagoya, Japan. Dien Ban district is the land of studiousness. Apart from the title of “Ngu Phung te phi” (Five phoenixes taking off simultaneously), the title “Ngu Tu dang khoa” was awarded to Dien Ban district to honour the studious  students. Furthermore, Dien Ban district is known as home of many celebrities and patriots such as Hoang Dieu, Pham Phu Thu, Tran Cao Van, PhanThanh Tai, Nguyen Thanh Y … The precious bronze book of Gia Long King is also one of many objects displayed in this room.             

In the phase of 1930-1945, there are many artifacts, maps, pictures about the guidelines, strategies of Vietnamese Communist Party in the most difficulties stage of the resistance against the figurehead feudalism and the French invasion with many  movements such as: “The Meeting at Phong Thu bridge (1939)”, “All people  simultaneously went  to street  to hold the power in Dien Ban headquarter (1945)”, “Resistance village of Dien Nam commune”,… together with some artifacts which were used by local people in that phase.

At the phase of 1954-1975, visitors will be introduced to the Bo Bo resounding battle, which was regarded as the Second Dien Bien Phu battle in Quang Nam – Da Nang province, was reproduced honestly by modern techniques. Exhibition space connected the resistance against the French colonialists to the resistance against America by the vivid images of the ferocity of war and typical patriots of Dien Ban district such as: the Mother Cong, Mother Bung, Tran Thi Ly, Nguyen Van Troi, Nguyen PhanVinh…The artifacts in the exhibition room about American war are very diverse with many kinds of tools, primitive weapons to disguise to attack the invaders and homemade weapons created the soldiers of Dien district to expel the enemy .

The next is the exhibition space of Dien Ban district in the phase of after 1975. That is the picture of Dien Ban district on the stage of reclaiming and rebuilding after the war and the process of social economic development with the best efforts of the government and people of Dien Ban district. The portrait of the Vietnamese herolic mother Nguyen Thi Thu - a typical mother of the whole country and many her memorabilia are also put in a selomn place in this room.

Besides, there are a space for “Tuong” Art to showcase costumes, musical instruments, weapons for this art and masks. Each mask presents a different role in an opera. Guests will be told many anecdotes of Nguyen Hien Dinh, who is an unruly official under the Nguyen dynasty and well-known for the "Tuong"  Art. Moreover, many famous opera artists and actors of the Tuong Art are also introduced at the Museum of Dien Ban.

The last is antique lamps room. Visitors will have a deep impression by the collection of 270 ancient oil lamps, 300 other unique ancient oil lamps with various sizes and diversity of styles and materials. They were collected from the whole country and over the world during 20 years. Some lamps bring the style of Renaissance art, which is carved with Venus statues, statues of Greek gods ... or show activities of soldiers, famers, workers, traders, warriors... About the materials, some lamps were made from blue stone; some made from metal, glass or ceramic ... Visitors will enjoy the enjoyable experience of 100-year-old jackfruit wooden turntable. With the principle that scientists have not been explained, the table has the ability to rotate strangely when people put hands on the table.

When visiting Dien Ban Museum, apart from seeing and being introduced to the valuable unique artifacts, guests will have chance to join many meaning folk games. Through those activities, the authority of Dien Ban museum would like to introduce the history, culture, skills of group activities as well as creating a good impression to the guests. Along with research, preservation, counting of artifacts and serving the tourists, Dien Ban Museum are focusing on collecting artifacts to enrich the gallery.

With a favorable position, not far from Da Nang City and on the heritage road of My Son Sanctuary and Hoi An ancient town, Dien Ban museum, as well as the memorial house of the hero Nguyen Van Troi, Bang An Tower, Vinahouse space, Triem Tay eco-tourism village …, improve their style to adapt to the social economic conditions whereby tourists can visit, learn about land and people of Dien Ban district.
